Super Bowl

Okay fine the super bowl is over and this post is thus irrelevant, but who cares bout that. A super bowl as good as this years was deserves a delayed blirb.
As we all(should) know the super bowl was the 18-0 patriots playing against the New York Giants. The patriots have been covered in quite a few scandals, that for some reason or another, the media enjoyed down playing. The week 1 spy gate, that after week 2 you didn’t hear much about it until the week prior to the super bowl. Where another Patriot video taping report came out against them video taping the Rams in the 01 super bowl. Congress is now going to ask the NFL commissioner why he destroyed all the tapes so people would know exactly what advantage the patriots had on the rest of the league. Now granted I’m glad someone is finally asking this question, it smelled pretty fishy when it first happened. Since it’s admitting that they had previously taped many things illegally, but not knowing what those were just irked me.
That said, is this really something that should be taking up congress time in the first place? It’s being seen more often having our senators try to get their fingers into sports by questioning their integrity. Most notably with steroids and baseball. Though to keep this post at a decent length I’ll get back to the super bowl.
After all the media hype that I did my best to avoid Super Bowl Sunday finally came around. Suffice it say, it was worth the wait. From the opening drive until the end of the game, it was full of excitement. It wasn’t the offensive shoot out most people may like. However it wasn’t bad offense that prevented scoring like last years super bowl, it was exceptional defensive efforts. The giants were driving seemingly at will, however turn overs and strong red zone defensive by the patriots kept their points low. The patriots finally met a team that could get a push with their front 4, but weren’t content with just that. They still sent blitzers to keep the OL off balance, and most importantly to keep Brady on his back.
Though often ridiculed for my views on Brady, it shows through when you watch him play. He’s an average quarterback behind a great offensive line, that normally gives him a 10 second pocket. Without that grace his true play comes out, he makes bad decisions and throws like Rex Grossman and just chucks it in the air and hopes moss can snag it. He also isn’t the clutch playoff quarter back he has the reputation for. If you question that I’ll ask you to name a game winning touch down drive in the playoffs by Brady. In the super bowl he was unable to even move closer to FG range with his chuck it to moss attempts missing. Last years playoffs against the Chargers at the end of the game when they needed to score he threw a gift interception, however was saved by chargers trying to return it and troy brown making a great play to get the ball back. In the following week against the colts, the same end, but no brown to save him.
As you might have guessed by now, watching Brady get laid out was quite the high point of the game, so congratulations to Eli and the New York Giants. That was a hell of a game, and a hell of a catch. So I’ll leave you with memories of the best 2 plays of the game
