They tried this once before in around my 3rd quarter. It didn’t work then, and they went back to the normal career fair the next quarter. This format makes it a pain for those in enterprise, or in other words those trying to get a job. Enterprise groups often meet from noon-4 if their on campus, and12:30-1 until 4:30-5 if off campus. Go back and peek at the times these things take place. So if you want to go to each meeting, your going to miss a week of class.

Okay fine, so maybe every company doesn’t interest you. However, why limit your options? the more people offering you jobs, the better chance you have of finding the “right” job. What if the one you thought you wouldn’t be interested in is one you thought would be better spent making sure you keep progress with your project. Also, yes I know you can be excused from the classes.

Also this format limits the number of employers that can attend as well. Which also limits your options(of course anyone trying to find a job don’t rely solely on the career fair). So all in all I’m failing to see how this helps anyone other then those 100 kids that get a free lunch. It’s a hastle for those needing the interviews, you lose out on the 1v1 questions you have with the recruiters at the career fair. Sure there will still be an interview…if your close to graduating. If your not, it’s going to be harder to get your face out there, and your not allowed at certain meetings.

I guess by now you can tell I simply don’t understand the reason to change it back to this format when it didn’t work in the first place. Hopefully I’m just being pessimistic and things will work out better this time around.
