Bears: One more year n Cubs: This year is our year

The bears have resigned Rex Grossman to a year deal. Which is gettig mixed feelings across the board.  One the one hand, there really isn’t any one else. Orton gives the bears an anemic offense, and with bensons poor performance last year there would be no offensive touch downs. The bears are a little to low in the draft to pick up a good qb ready to play now in the draft. Not to mention they have more pressing needs then QB, namely offensive line and another WR.
But who cares what other people thing, This is my blog. I love that Rex is staying for one more yar. If at all else he makes the games worth watching. I’ve watched bears games when they had no offense, it’s dull and boring. Since rex has been starting the games have been exciting, and for the most part they have been winning. Grossman reminds me a lot of an early Farve, they throw a lot of pics, but they generate enoug offense to still win the game. Sure, grossman will never be as great as Farve, his arm isn’t quite as good and he doesn’t have the pocket presense that farve has. Also he of course doesn’t have Farve ability to avoid injuries.
They still need to make some improvements to be able to compete with the packers for the division, assuming farve repeats what he did last year. I’ll wait until we get closer to the season startig to make my predictions.
As for the Cubs, spring training is under way and optimism is running at it’s traditional high point. GM Jim Hendry wants to make another deal before the season starts, and we’ll see what that deal is. It’s good to see they are trying to improve, and if they can avoid the slow start of last season with a new manager then they should be sitting comfortably when the season ends. So lets go cubs, 100 years is long enough.
