Bret Favre Retires
Posted on March 5, 2008 - Filed Under NFL, Sports
There are only 2 players that have worn a packers uniform since I’ve started watching football that I can say I liked. Bret Farve is one of them(Reggie White being the other). He’s a great quarterback with an amazing passion for the game. Even as an old man, he still plays like a kid. You can tell he enjoys playing the game on Sunday, and remained a top quarter back for well over a decade now.
There are a ton of memories to have stick out when thinking of Bret Farve with his gunslinging mentality. A master of the slant route, and a guy who just makes guys miss in the pocket. A cannon of an arm with a reputation of breaking his WR fingers by throwing it so hard. With that all out of the way, the greatest Farve moment to me, and many others, was the MNF game after his fathers death.
On a cold December day in 2003 against the Oakland Raiders, Farve takes the field the day after his fathers death in front of the entire football nation. Farve went on to throw for 399 yards and 4 touchdowns. Making it so that day will live on forever in football legend, and his fathers memory will live on with it. It’s a game I’ll remember so long as I remember Farve, which will be as long as the NFL is around.
Though it’s sad to see Farve not play football, this once again makes the NFC North division extremely weak and extremely open. If the Bears can get their defense working again and sexy Rexy can go back to the early year of the bears super bowl run. The division is ours for the taking. If not, it’s a toss up. The vikings with Peterson are a threat, and they have a solid defense to boot. The lions always seem like their on the verge of being a contender, and it’s hard to say how a guy who hasn’t played football in 3 years is going to do as a QB in the NFL. Go bears! one other note on the bears, they resigned Marty Booker to give the bears at least 1 wr heading into the draft, which is good we need more things then a WR.
