…3 100 win seasons gets you 0 world series
The lovable losers putting a little a little question into that nick name as they became the 2nd team in MLB history to achieve 10,000 wins after the victory over the Rockies last night. Yet those 10,000 wins haven’t really amounted to much of anything to the die hard cubs fan looking for that elusive world series. Here we are 7,670 wins and counting from that last world series. 100 years from the apparent curse placed upon the Chicago cubs over not allowing a goat to enter a baseball stadium.
So here we sit as faithful Cubs fans hoping this year will be the year. That after this we won’t need to continue counting how long it’s been. We won’t have to wonder if the cubs will become the first team with 10,000 wins between world series. We won’t have to wonder if a 100 year curse is inclusive or exclusive. We won’t have to blame a cat walking onto the field. We won’t need to blame one of a dozen fans reaching to grab a foul ball, nor years later saying we couldn’t have caught it anyway. We can simply sit back and enjoy the blissful chaos that will become of Waveland Ave. The shear joy in Ron Santo’s voice as he let’s the Cubs faithful know of the Cubs success. No longer will it be there is next year. All that is will simply not matter anymore. We will be world champions, curses over, superstitious gone.
So let’s go cubs, this IS the year. No more waiting, no more lifetimes of people not seeing a cubs world series victory. No more lovable losers, simply lovable.
