And the streak ends.

So it’s been a while since I’ve written something not about video games it seems. So let’s talk about the Cubs again.
Quite simply they are rocking it so far this season. They lost their first game today in the last 10 they played. They have the best record in baseball. The first time they have had the best record in June since they won a world series 100 years ago. They have 2 leading canidates for rookie of the year with Soto and Fukadome. All though, Fukadome really shouldn’t count since he’s played japanese ball for a few years.
Zambrano continues to pitch strong this season. He currently has a 8-1 record, which is second most wins in the NL. Carrying a 2.51 era, which is good for 3rd best in the NL. He’s putting up a solid year and if he can carry this on can become a legitmate Cy Young contender when the year ends. It’s not just big Z that’s pitching well this year though. Kerry Wood has shown he can be a good closer thus far, he’s currently tied for most saves in the NL with 16. Despite a little early wildness he’s settled down and his getting the job done. Marmol continues to be a beast of a set up man. Then the remaing 4 starters are also getting their jobs done. The team overall has the third best Era and whip in the NL while being 4th in K’s.
The deeper into the season we get, the more it feels like this is really going to be the year. We are winning in all sorts of ways and showing a resiliance i’ve never seen from the cubs before. Top it off with just how bizarre this season has been done, nothing but then a cubs vs rays world series would be a fitting ending.
So let’s hope that the cubs pitching keeps up, the bats keep swinging, and that 100 year curse was exclusive =D
Let’s go cubbies!
