E3 Day 2, Nintendo and Sony

Day 2 of E3 has begun and nintendo just finished up their press conference and sony’s will be in about an hour, So i’ll grab lunch soon so i can catch that since it’s the one i’m most interested in.
Nintendos big news Wii wise was Animal Crossing Wii. Good news for those of you that like the series, but not something that made me want to go pick up a Wii again. They also showed off a new wii sports complete with yet another wiimote addon that allows greater precision in the wiimotion technology. There was also Shauns Whites snow boarding that uses the the wii fit pad.
For the DS a new pokemon game and a GTA spinoff were announced. No details on either were given, so I don’t know if i’ll need to search for my charger on my DS to try the GTA or not.
We’ll see what news Sony brings later in the day and if they will be able to cancel some of the fear of ‘losing’ FF13 that the internet is all giddy about. Beyond the sony announcement we should get to see some RE5 and Fallout3 stuff today, I think ign will be streaming that stuff so if they do i’ll try to check that out.

Well sony is now done with their conference and it was a resounding “meh”. It has more interest to me then the Nintedo or Microsoft one since I primarly play games on my ps3 and because microsoft didn’t talk about Too Human.
The “big” news for sony would be a toss up between the 40 gig ps3 model getting a new harddrive(80 gigs) for the same cost. Which i’d rather it be 70 or 90, because there is an 80 gig console already. The new 80 gig will not be able to play ps2 games while the old 80 gig can. The other thing that can be labeled as the big annoucement was the unraveling of a game called M.A.G. Which will offer 256 player online play. How that is going to work is going to be a mystery. I can’t imaginge getting that many people working together over the internet. Hopefully it will have some Savage like features and give some RTS feel to is so that you can have a ‘general’ of sorts able to give attack plans that individual squars are expected to do.
Beyond that sony showed off Resistance 2, which looks really sweet imo. Annouced a movie service for the ps store that can be used on your ps3 or psp. A resistance psp game and a Ratchet and Clank ps store game(short and only for $14.99). From the sounds of it, I’m thinking 2-3 hour short. They also showed a teaser for GoW3, which appeared to just erupt more fanbois because it wasn’t gameplay footage…even though the game they have been praising hasn’t shown gameplay footage either. However it’s no surprise their is a lack of logic within the mindset of a fanboi.
A lot of information people were hoping for, didn’t get annouced so people will label the ps3 one as a failure because it didn’t meet internet hype. Overall I’d say it was solid, but nothing amazing, and no news to match the 360 gaining FF13 outside of Japan.
Oh I almost forgot, they used their game Little Big Planet to create essentially a power point presentation. I found it a really innovative way of using the game. I have to say I hope they continue to do that in the future it was very cute and very entertaining.
