Warning, Political post ahead!

This will be one of the few political post I make, as I more or less treat this blog like I would talk to my friends, and poltics is always a topic I’ll shy away from because you never know when you might find someone you just don’t see eye to eye with, and it tends to cause unwanted problems. So if you’ve had this experience in the past, just do us both a favor and wait for the next post(probally a RB2 review, which btw is amazing).
Well, it’s all but official at this point that Obama has won. The democrats look to have a strong hold on congress, but not quite the 60% they ideally want. It’s going to be an interesting 4 years seeing what this group is going to do. I fear for the future as in the months of leading up to this point and talking about the two candidates with people the conversation where so full of hate. Obama supporters slinging insults at McCain, McCain supporters slinging insults at Obama.
Accusations ranging from Obama being a socialist, to McCain being Bush Jr. False accusations of the others policies, misinformation and outright lies. Countless times in these conversations I’d try to spin it back to positive. I’d ask well, what about Obama do you like. What about McCain do you like, and constantly the answer reply basically boils down to he’s not the otehr guy.
That is where my fear comes in to play. The two party system that is so entrenched into American politics is the problem. Voting has just become a glorified oligarchy where you vote for the guy you least hate. Rarely did you get to see Obama talking about where he intends to spend taxes, only that ‘he’s going to clean up the budget’ and he’ll generate taxes by imposing a massive tax on the rich. Which since they are a minority, you here no outcry. With McCain and asked about the war, you don’t hear about his plan to progress towards withdrawal. You just get, well I’m not going to do what Obama would do and give the terrorist a time line. Even glancing at Obamas website, you see it has as much anti-McCain as it does pro-obama.
This irritates me to no end, I’m going to continue to hope that some 3rd party can step forward sooner rather than later. That people will realize the problems with the country are from the decisions made over the last 16 years, not the last 8. A period that had a democrat congress with a democrat president, a republican president with a republican congress, and a democratic one his second term. That these sub prime loans where considered a good idea to all the parties. Because, it was good for votes, it was good for lobbyist, it was good for the party. Few of them bothered to care what this would do to the country or the economy. Because that isn’t what either party cares about at the end of the day.
Oh well, I supposed at the end of the day there isn’t much that can be done…other than wait the 16 years until i’d be old enough to run myself
So here’s to the next 4 years, prove me a pessimist and let them be a great 4. Prove to me that my fears of a crashing health industry to to obamas health plan is just that, a fear. Prove to me that Obamas tax plan isn’t going to further bring the economy down, by taking money away from those that would spend it as well as encouraging more jobs to go oversees. Prove me wrong on Obamas stance on pressuring companies to go green, and further increase their cost in a time of financial peril. For I hope that I am a pessimist, and not a realist like pessimist prefer to be called.
